Reps Reject Motion To Allow Citizens Carry Arms

  The House of Representatives on Wednesday shot down a motion to reverse President Buhari’s Executive Order prohibiting the issuance of licenses for fire arms by the police in Nigeria. The sponsor of the motion, Rep. Uzoma Nkem Abonta (PDP- Abia), failed to present the motion on notice when the public address system went off just after the Speaker had introduced it. The lawmaker, however pressed to be heard, when the House Leader, Rep. Alhassan Doguwa (APC-Kano), interjected saying the motion was “dead on arrival”, because according to him,  it was an unpopular subject. The motion was entitled “Need to Reverse the Executive Order and Police Directive banning Possession and Issuance of New Licenses for Firearms in the Country”.   Former President Goodluck Jonathan, has given reason a politician could be called to come back to lead the people after losing an election. Recall that Jonathan lost his second term bid to President Muhammadu Buhari in 2015. According to the former Nigerian leader, the way leaders are perceived while in office can play a major role in their political career. Jonathan stated this on Wednesday when he met the representatives of political parties from The Gambia at the closing of a two-day consultative retreat for political parties. He charged African leaders to always pay attention to the way the majority of perceive them and their policies while in office. Airforce Crash Victims To Be Buried Today

  Victims of the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) plane, Beechcraft KingAir B350i (NAF 201) that crashed in Abuja would be buried with full military honours today. The aircraft crashed as it approached the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport after reporting engine failure in a bid to refuel. The Nigerian Air Force announced the burial via an invitation sent to defence correspondents. It said the fallen personnel would be buried with full military honours. NAF said the burial activities would commence by 7:30 am at the National Military Cemetery, Airport Road Abuja today. Nigeria Loses ₦151.78 Billion In Crude Oil Monthly – NNPC

  Nigeria is currently losing an average of 200,000 barrels of crude oil daily, the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation stated on Wednesday. Brent, the oil against which Nigeria’s crude is priced, was $66.75 per barrel on Wednesday, while the official exchange rate of the dollar stood at 379/$. From the above figures, it showed that the country was losing about N151.79bn in 30 days, going by the 200,000 barrels of crude oil being lost daily, as revealed by NNPC. Group Managing Director, NNPC, Mele Kyari, disclosed the volume of crude oil lost daily in Nigeria while speaking at a meeting with the Chief of Defence Staff, Major General Lucky Irabor. The NNPC boss was quoted in a statement issued in Abuja by the corporation’s spokesperson, Kennie Obateru, as saying, “We have two sets of losses, one coming from our products and the other coming from crude oil. “In terms of crude losses, it is still going on.
